It opened in a whisper to most, Rosewood London that occupies the epic Edwardian listed building once home to the Chancery Court Hotel. For those unfamiliar with Rosewood Hotels, it's a Dallas-born brand started by Caroline Rose Hunt and now owned by one of China's largest real estate investment funds. Since 2011, the company has steadily expanded the portfolio with new properties in Vancouver, Saudi Arabia and Asia that combine landmark buildings and iconic designers. The London property with its recognizable dome and Pavonazzo marble staircase includes spaces like forthcoming Holborn Dining Room and The Bar designed by Martin Brudnizki responsible for the iconic look of Le Caprice, Cecconi's and Soho House Miami. An all-day delicatessen, lobby lounge and Mirror Room eatery will offer additional dining options. The property manages a livable elegance that incorporates vintage wares and antiques with more modern upholstered décor and that epic classic architecture. The hotel is home to Sense Spa, a limestone wellness palace with Zen-playground of wooden bridges and rivers of pebbles leading to a teak and gold leaf relaxation room
The Room
We normally prefer a single designer to narrate their way through a hotel’s restaurants and guest rooms, which usually leads to a more cohesive visual experience. Rosewood London recruited Tony Chi of Park Hyatt in Shanghai and D.C.-acclaim to pen its 262 rooms and 44 suites and the results are a more polished, traditional glamour in entry-level Deluxe Rooms with their generous sizing and period windows lined in rich drapery. Mirror décor, striped flooring and tufted upholstered piece bring in an element of Regency and British country living. Bi-level Grand Premier rooms feature split layout and more creative use of upper floor space with Italian marble bathrooms and Czech & Speake toiletries. Favored suites include the Cupola House Suite with its iconic foyer and stately entrance hall that leads to its singular bedroom. Suites and Signature Suites come with access to an exclusive Manor Club with all-day butler and concierge food service.
